Brittany Kennell Becomes First Female Québecoise Country Artist to Perform at the Grand Ole Opry
On August 14, 2021 Montréal’s Brittany Kennell became the first female Québecoise country artist to take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Kennell appeared alongside American country star Ryan Kinder after he invited her to take part in his Opry performance.
On Facebook she wrote: "Bucket list: Singing at the Grand Ole Opry! Excited to be joining Ryan Kinder tonight in the circle. When Ryan asked me on Tuesday night to come sing, I couldn’t say no . . . I am beyond grateful."
Adding to the excitement of her Opry appearance is the announcement that her debut album I Ain’t A Saint will drop on September 17, 2021.
Kennell is no stranger to the Nashville scene, calling it home for the better part of seven years before returning to Montréal in 2019. In 2016 she became the first Canadian to appear on NBC’s The Voice (Team Blake), where she also received valuable advice from mentor Miley Cyrus. Her time in Nashville has seen her share the stage with renowned Country artists Maren Morris, Carly Pearce and more, and write with rising stars like Tenille Townes and Hailey Whitters.
