Today the Board of Directors of Bad Dog Theatre Company announced the permanent appointment of Coko Galore as Artistic and Managing Director. In addition to her successful career in comedy as a performer, director, and producer, Coko Galore was previously Associate Artistic Director at Bad Dog before being named interim Artistic and Managing Director on March 1, following the departure of long time AD Julie Dumais Osborne.

In these few short months Coko Galore transitioned Bad Dog’s popular weekly programming to Bad Dog Comedy TV, with live shows streamed twice daily on YouTube. This includes brand new shows, and live shows that have been altered for online viewing such as Hookup and The Oval.

“I am honoured to be the Artistic and Managing Director of Bad Dog,” said Coko Galore in a statement. “As a creative leader, and as a queer Black Asian woman, I remain committed to uplifting and elevating the marginalized voices in comedy. I am excited for how artistic spaces will evolve as we move through these challenging times. Now is the time for us to make bold choices and significant changes.”

Coko Galore has also served as international festival ensemble director at the Vancouver Improv Festival and has been a featured guest instructor and performer at theatres across North America. Coko is also one half of the dynamic improv duo Coko & Daphney, Festival Director and Producer of Black and Funny - Toronto, and co-producer of the Untitled Black Sketch Project.

Bad Dog Theatre specializes in the art of unscripted comedy and improvised performance, and has been a home for improv in Toronto for over 35 years.
